"The Good Pub Guide 2011 has named The Tempest Arms at Elslack, 3 miles north of Pendle & Craven Croquet Club as its pub of the year. It is one of my favourite places to stay and close to one of my favourite croquet clubs. As many of my friends on the UK croquet circuit know I have made accommodation in a great pub near an excellent croquet club a feature of my tournament croquet life.
When I first stayed at The Tempest Arms I did not realise that my 3 mile journey took me from Lanacashire to Yorkshire . It cost me a few beers."
